The Pro Tour is a new professional golf tour built for retired elite athletes who still want to compete at a high level after their careers in the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and other major sports leagues.
For its inaugural tournament series, The Pro Tour needed more than a production partner.
They needed a team capable of developing a broadcast identity, producing live sports events, and creating the technical foundation to support a growing sports property.

The Challenge: Producing a New Golf Series Across Multiple Courses
Live golf is one of the most difficult sports to produce because the field of play is not contained in one arena, court, or stadium. Every course has a different layout, different terrain, different access points, and different production requirements.
That created several key challenges:
Distributed Course Coverage
Golf coverage requires cameras to be spread across large areas of play. Camera teams need to follow athletes across holes, capture key moments as they develop, and adjust quickly as the competition moves.
For The Pro Tour, the workflow needed to support wide coverage without locking cameras into fixed positions or slowing down the field team.
Venue-to-Venue Flexibility
The series moved across multiple tournament locations, which meant the production model had to be repeatable but not rigid. Each course required a different deployment plan, while the overall broadcast standard needed to remain consistent from event to event.
The challenge was building a model that could adapt to each venue without starting over every time.
Reduced Infrastructure Requirements
Traditional golf production often depends on large amounts of fiber, cabling, and on-site infrastructure. That approach can be expensive, time-consuming, and difficult to scale across a traveling series.
The Pro Tour needed a more flexible model that reduced the physical footprint on-site while still supporting a high-quality live broadcast.
Full-Series Operations
The production requirements extended beyond the live show. The Pro Tour also needed support for media asset management, real-time editing, content distribution, master control, and channel playout.
That meant the workflow had to connect what was happening on the course with what needed to happen in the control room, post-production, and across the distribution pipeline.
The Solution: A Full-Service Production Model Built for Live Golf
BMG designed and deployed an integrated production model that unified creative services, technical infrastructure, and operational execution into a single production workflow. The solution combined wireless acquisition, centralized REMI production, media asset management, remote editing, master control, and channel playout to support efficient live production and multi-platform distribution.
Wireless Course Acquisition
To reduce the need for fiber across the course, BMG built the acquisition workflow around wireless camera transmission.
Cameras and drone feeds were equipped with LiveU LU800 units using bonded cellular technology, backed up by Starlink dishes traveling on golfcarts. This allowed live feeds from the course to be transmitted directly back to BMG’s Network Operations Center in Washington, DC.
The wireless workflow gave field crews more mobility and gave the production team more flexibility to follow the story of the tournament as it developed.
Centralized REMI Production
Utilizing BMG’s proprietary REMI workflow, production operations were centralized through BMG’s Network Operations Center in Washington, DC, while supporting a large decentralized crew working from multiple locations.
From the NOC, BMG supported switching, graphics, audio, video engineering, transmission, monitoring, and overall technical execution. Decentralized team members, including the director, graphics AP, graphics operators, and technical support, were connected into the workflow using low-latency customizable multiviews and remote machine access.
Lean on-site footprint
BMG maintained a streamlined on-site footprint at each tournament location.
The on-site team supported camera acquisition, field production, communications, and coordination across the course. BMG also deployed RMU-2 to support the remote production workflow and help connect the venue back into the NOC.
A BMG B-Unit also supports the tour, traveling a full weather-proof set as well as support gear needed with distance and weather concerns inherent with golf telecasts.
This approach kept the field operation focused on what needed to happen at the course, while the heavier production infrastructure remained centralized.
Creative and Show Support
The Pro Tour needed a show format that could support live competition, athlete-driven storytelling, and a consistent presentation across the series.
BMG supported the creative side of the production with producing, directing, graphics, and overall show execution. This helped give the series a polished broadcast structure while allowing each event to reflect the unique storylines happening on the course.
Media Asset Management and Remote Editing
BMG integrated media asset management and remote editing into the production workflow so content could be accessed, organized, and used throughout the event.
Instead of treating the live broadcast and post-production as separate workflows, BMG connected them through a centralized content operation. This allowed remote editors to access ENG-sourced footage from the course, turn around real-time content while the tournament was still in progress, and support distribution needs beyond the live broadcast.
Master Control and Channel Playout
BMG also supported master control and channel playout for the series, giving The Pro Tour a more complete broadcast operations model.
By connecting live production, MAM, editing, and playout, BMG helped create a workflow that supported not only the show itself, but the channels and content delivery requirements around it.

Instead of rebuilding a full production environment from scratch at each tournament, The Pro Tour gained a repeatable workflow that could move efficiently between venues while maintaining a consistent broadcast standard.
The model also gave the series more flexibility across the course and more control after the live show. Content could be captured, managed, edited, and delivered through one connected workflow, helping The Pro Tour support both the live broadcast and the content needs around each event.
For a new sports property, that foundation matters. It gives the series a broadcast operation that can scale with more events, more content, and larger distribution opportunities over time.
